'Unleash Your
Writing Power'
Who are
our writing courses for:
All
our courses are aimed at helping you to
develop your creativity and are equally suitable
for those with previous experience and for
complete beginners; what is important is a
desire to write.
Creative
writing courses in 2012: We are
offering three creative writing courses on Paxos
in 2012:
'Crime
Writing'
(17
- 24 September 2012)
covers the initial process and practicalities of
writing a crime novel
from taking
the germ of an idea, through to a synopsis and a
plan of the novel to the opening paragraph,
chapter one, page one and beyond ... with lines
that will hook the reader. It
will
be led by retired police officer and full-time
crime writer,
Nick Oldham,
who
has
had
17
crime novels in his
highly successful
Henry Christie series of books
published, including in 2011 'Facing Justice'
and 'Instinct'.
'An Introduction to
Screenwriting'
(24 September - 1 October 2012)
will take you through the process of writing for
the screen in easy stages: from creating
characters and a story-line that will
immediately grab your audience’s attention,
right up to finding a buyer for your finished
script.
Whether you are an experienced writer who now
wishes to move on to create or adapt existing
plays and novels for the screen, or a complete
beginner, this could be the ideal course for
you.
It will be
led by novelist and playwright,
Linda M James, who
has had three novels
published: Out Of Shaking Air, The Invisible
Piper and Tempting The Stars.
Her contemporary psychological thriller
The Day
Of The Swans is
being published in 2012 and she has also adapted
the book into a screenplay.
She is also the author of the highly successful
How to Write Great Screenplays: And Get Them Into
Production.
‘Living the Dream: Writing About Travel’
(1 – 8 October 2012) will give you a major boost
in the right direction whether you’re a hobby
writer who’d like to pen articles about your
holidays and see those articles published
locally, or a keen traveller who wants to earn
extra money from doing what they love. It will
be led by highly successful travel and food
writer,
Heidi Fuller-love,
whose features and photographs regularly appear
in magazines and newspapers worldwide ranging
from The Guardian and The LA Times,
to Thomas Cook Travel Magazine and
Asian Geographic.
Other
creative writing courses:
We also run two other creative writing courses. We do not
currently have any dates for these but
please
contact us if you would be
interested in taking part in either.
'Inspired by Paxos'
offers you the chance to explore the fascinating
landscape of Paxos and, through this, further
develop your own creative
writing. The course
is led by
Adam Strickson,
an experienced writer, tutor and frequent
visitor to Paxos, who is a Teaching Fellow in
Creative Writing at the University of Leeds. Adam has taught
poetry, fiction, life writing and the use of
myth and landscape as creative sources and has
written plays for several theatre companies. His
first collection of poetry was published in
2005.
'Unleash Your Writing Power'
is an
inspirational and innovative workshop designed
to unblock the barriers to your creativity and help
you to inject energy, power and magic into
everything you write.
We first ran this course on Paxos in 2009 and it
has been a great success.
It is led by
Judi Goodwin, a
journalist and trainer with wide experience in
both print and broadcast media, who has been a
regular feature writer for national and regional
newspapers, and also a freelance broadcaster for
BBC Radio. She
now specialises in home interest and lifestyle
journalism, and trains journalists and
professional writers in
London
and abroad.

lovely shared villas, each with its own pool and
spacious terraces, set in the shade and
