Would you like to take better pictures but feel
that you have just never got to grips with
either traditional or digital photography? Would
you like to know how your camera really works so
that you can be sure that you are getting the
best out of it? Have you ever wondered how you
might improve your pictures by using editing
software, such as Photoshop?

Now you can learn how to do all this and at the
same time have a wonderful holiday, as we are
offering late Summer
Photography Weeks on the island of Paxos. Paxos
is a beautiful island and, with its pretty
villages, stunning scenery and wonderfully clear
light, it is hard to imagine a more
inspirational location for a photography
holiday.
The friendly and informal holidays will be led by
Richard
Weston, a professional photographer with
many years of teaching experience, and
are
suitable for photographers of any standard,
whether using film or digital medium.
Tuition will be based around group sessions on five mornings and one evening
during the week, when Richard
will help you to discover the joys of what makes
a good picture, the basics of digital
photography and printing, and also give you the
chance to further explore the world of
photography through practical exercises. These
will be supplemented by informal early evening
discussions of the day’s work, when Richard will
show you what can be achieved using picture
editing software. There will also be plenty of
opportunities for individual advice and
time either to explore Paxos or simply relax.
The precise content of the course will to a certain extent
be guided by the needs of those taking part but
a typical course might cover
-
How your camera works: the relationship
between shutter speeds and the aperture, and
using a good exposure to get the best from
your photography
-
How pictures convey mood and atmosphere and
tell a story, through composition, lighting
and ‘ideas’
-
How digital imaging works and how to get
your pictures from your camera to your
computer, from pixels to printing, and from
pictures to presentation
-
How to use digital imaging software to get
the most from your pictures
-
How to take successful pictures using only
that which is available
-
How to use long exposure
-
Tips and techniques on how to cut bevelled
mounts for your pictures or frame them
-
How to use software to produce a simple and
affective slide show with music of the
images you have taken throughout the course
