CREATIVE WRITING COURSES ON PAXOS

‘WRITING ABOUT GREECE': 25 SEPTEMBER - 2 OCTOBER 2015
(or Ouzo and Ink!)

Heidi Fuller-love was the New York Travel Writers Society's
Travel Radio Personality of the Year in 2013

Are you tired of lazing on a beach? Do you long to improve your writing skills while learning more about Greece? If so, this new and slightly different Travel Writing course, led by highly successful travel and food writer/photographer, Heidi Fuller-love, will give you a major boost in the right direction.

The course, which will focus on Greek places, people and food, will be very much a hands-on course that will include both writing and photography, although the photography element will be more about taking a picture that will sell than improving your technical skills.

Going out every morning, or being sent out on assignment on your free afternoons, you will sample a different aspect of Greek life each day, such as discovering local meze snacks, visiting traditional shops and interesting backstreets, and learning about local crafts and the production of olive oil.

Like a local reporter you will record your experience as notes and/or photos and will then work together as a group to give form to your experiences, whether you want to produce web logs and diaries for your own pleasure, or try your hand at writing articles, or stories with a view to seeing your work in print. Inspirational and fun, the aim of this course is to give you a closer insight into Greek life, whilst getting your creative juices flowing. During this course you will:

·         Gain an in depth view of different aspects of Greek life

·         Learn the best way to record your impressions, in writing and on camera

·         Learn how to get rid of ‘the junk’ and hone in on the parts of each experience that are most likely to engage others

·         Explore the different forms of transmitting your experience, so that other’s can share your impressions

So if you’re tired of lazing by the pool and you want to improve your writing
skills whilst learning a lot more about local life, this is the course for you.

Based in Greece for the past eight years and with a proficient grip of the language, highly successful travel and food writer/photographer, Heidi Fuller-love hosts a monthly travel show reporting live from destinations around the globe for British Airways in-flight radio. She has written features about Greece and Greek life for publications ranging from The Guardian to Thomas Cook Travel magazine and Songlines. She was also a travel columnist for many years for The Athens News.

Her travel. food and lifestyle features and photographs exploring other parts of the planet regularly appear in magazines and newspapers worldwide. In Spring 2013 Heidi won the New York Travel Writers Society' award for Travel Radio Personality of the Year for her monthly for her British Airways travel shows. She was also one of the five finalists in the Travel Broadcaster of the Year category of the prestigious 2013 British Travel Press Awards.

Heidi can’t promise miracles, but she does guarantee that, whether you’re a hobby writer who’d like to pen articles about your holidays and see those articles published locally, or a keen traveller who wants to earn extra money from doing what they love, this course will give you a major boost in the right direction.
